Cornell Phonetics Laboratory

The field of linguistics has a fully-equipped phonetics laboratory that provides an integrated environment for the experimental study of speech and language, including its production, perception, and acquisition. Located in Morrill Hall, the laboratory consists of 6 adjacent rooms and covers about 1800 sq. ft. Its facilities include a variety of hardware and software for analyzing and editing speech, for running experiments, for synthesizing speech, and for developing and testing phonetic, phonological, and psycholinguistic models.

Mailing Lists for the Cornell Phonetics Lab:

There are two email mailing lists available for use by Cornell Phonetics Lab people and others who are interested in the Cornell Phonetics Lab. They are:

ph2: This list is designed for use by people who are directly involved in work in the Cornell Phonetics Lab, as well as any others who have an interest in what the Phonetics Lab is doing. Anyone can be put on this list by sending a request to eje4@cornell.edu.

plab: This list is more restrictive and is designed for announcements that would be of interest only to people who work directly in the Cornell Phonetics Lab. This list is a subset of the ph2 list.

These lists are unmoderated and anyone can post messages to a list provided that she or he is a member of that list. To post a message, send to either ph2@alcyone.phonetics.cornell.edu, or plab@alcyone.phonetics.cornell.edu, as appropriate.
